Poetry of the soul.

The words I'm afraid to speak

Technology has evolved.

What once was running at a playground has turned into social media.

What once was letters has turned into messages over a screen.

What once was beautiful has turned into the past.

Technology has evolved.

Social media is taking over our lives.

Parents trying to portray perfect lives for their friends.

Teenagers trying to follow trends in hopes of staying relevant.

Kids being consumed with inappropriate content for their age.

Technology has evolved.

Love, friendship, and business letters are gone.

Instead of letters we have snaps where you can share your life.

Texting is a wonderful tool! We barely listen to one another's voices.

Gone is the worry about having to speak and articulate your words because texting is easy, quick, and fun.

Technology has evolved.

Everywhere you look there's people looking down at their phones.

Everywhere you look there’s perfect lives on their thrones.

Everywhere you look there’s hatred being spread.

Everywhere you look there’s greatness being shed.

Technology. Has. Evolved.

Girls are filling shoes that were never meant for them.

Trends are built to build and break peoples stems.

“Don’t worry, nobody cares.” My mom says.

Yet it seems like the whole world is watching what is posted.

It seems like I have to be careful with every word I say in case someone is recording.

It seems like my personal opinions have to be hidden just so I don’t get ‘canceled.’

It seems like my personality has become what everyone thinks is fun.

I’m grasping onto myself because I fear what once was is now lost.

Technology has evolved and will only continue to evolve.

I look at the younger generation and fear what's to come,

hope they realize how consumed we’ve become.

Change their ways and find themselves.

but after all, technology is the future and we’ve only just begun.
