Poem: Friendship is not black and white

In ages past, the world was cool,

Nature’s rhythms, calm and full,

Seasons changed with gentle grace,

A balanced, steady, tranquil pace.

But now the heat, it starts to rise,

A warming earth, beneath our skies,

The cause, our actions day by day,

In careless, thoughtless, harmful ways.

The factories’ smoke, the car exhaust,

In every gain, what have we lost?

Fossil fuels we burn with greed,

Ignoring nature’s desperate need.

The forests fall, the trees are burned,

With each, a lesson left unlearned,

Our atmosphere, once pure and clear,

Now chokes with carbon, year by year.

The ice caps melt, the seas will rise,

A consequence we can't disguise,

Habitats lost beneath the waves,

Displaced lives that no one saves.

Storms grow fierce, and droughts expand,

Deserts march across the land,

Wildfires rage and hurricanes,

Our planet groans beneath the strains.

Yet in this tale of rising heat,

We have the power to defeat,

The warming trend, if we unite,

To change our ways, to make it right.

Reduce emissions, fuel the green,

Invest in wind and solar scenes,

Recycle, reduce, and plant anew,

For the earth, for me and you.

Educate, inform, inspire,

To quench this ever-growing fire,

To understand our planet’s plea,

For a future, safe and free.

For in our hands, the choice remains,

To halt the heat, to break the chains,

To cool the earth, restore the blue,

For every life, for me and you.

The earth will heal, the world can thrive,

If we work together to revive,

Our planet’s health, our only home,

Beneath the sky, beneath the dome.

So let us rise and take a stand,

For cleaner air, for greener land,

To end the warming, heal the strife,

And give our children a better life.
