Parents' Painful Pleasure

An Imperfect Ode to a Parent’s Love

By Sam IsaacsonPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

I love you, son

So much it's unbearable

Almost unpleasant

I want to squeeze you and never let you go

And yet I know I must

I can't show you how much

I love you, son

Indescribable how I know you love me too

Inexplicable joy at rewarding your ruthless demands

Let me give you

All I can

All I have

All I am

I love you, son

So much I seem to want to scream

I love you, son

love poems
