Nine lines for nine months you carried me
The complicated relationship of a mother and child that is estranged and broken
By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 27 days ago • 1 min read
The Red left you when you carried me,
Dawn hits me as you did, so soft
I can't find you in the mist
Selfish poison took you
I'm lost, babe in woods
Mother, come back
I’m helpless
Red chokes
Me.

This is an outstanding piece. Every piece of imagery, and especially the line 'Red poison chokes you' says this is a poem about the loss of a parent. I also love your choice of song, which makes the poem stand out more.
Powerful imagery and creates an allure to know more! Really great work! 🩷
Whatever the Red signifies, it sure packs a punch. Abandonment, death, purposeful neglect, all seems feasible here.
Wonderful emotional take on the challenge Sis
Red is such an emotional colour, and give power and sadness to this piece. Really well done.
Amazing!
Great
a bit emotional and deep though but beautifully penned
