“Does it ever appear

In the middle of the night?

Silent shadows creeping

Tree leaves rustling

Right outside your window?”

***

“Always. Every night,” I say.

“Cause I have bad dreams

Then I turn on the light but

It doesn’t help.”

***

“Oh, good. Me too. I call them

Night chills.”
