A poem

I am a hummingbird,

floating along on fragile wings,

trying to find nectar to sustain me.

I nest in flower bushes

to shelter myself

In passing storms.

My size does not

determine my worth.

I may seem too fragile

to fight my own battles

but I’ve got my own flock

to hold up my wings

when they get too heavy.

I am not solitary.

They will sing the sweetest songs

when my voice cannot carry a tune.

We will next together

and brave the storms.

A tiny family of Hummingbirds,

Bonding beyond expectation.

Finding hope on one anothers

fragile wings.
