The world is quiet, late at night
And in my room a little light
Spins circles on the ceiling.
Today’s events are in the past
And sleep is finding me at last
But in my arms a ball of fur
Is softly purring sweetly.
I draw her close and kiss her head
I’m blessed that she should share my bed,
And make my life much brighter.
Goodnight, I whisper, safe and sound
I know that she will stick around,
We share a home, my cat and I.
The sun has set outside my door,
And though I wish that I had more,
I know that I have all I need.

So sweet, and stellar job with the rhymes. I had to write a sonnet back in secondary school and I vowed I'd never work hard for rhymes again! lol. It was so stressful. :D
