Motherhood

A poem

It's their childhood,

not mine.

I'm raising children in a world full of uncertainties.

A pandemic,

The threat of war,

Terrible economic times.

I will love them through it all.

Through every formula shortage.

Through every illness that goes through our home.

Through every tantrum,

Through every meal they choose not to eat.

I will cherish every snuggle,

Every "Just one more story mama."

Every early morning and late night wakeups.

Even when mama is tired, she still gets up and tries to create magic.

I hope they remember that.

Because my motherhood is their childhood.

Even if they don't remember, I will.

Your reflections on the duality of your experience—both the challenges and the cherished memories—resonate deeply. Thank you for sharing this touching piece that speaks to the resilience and love inherent in motherhood.
