Moon 'Scape

Chasing a Rainbow

I stood on the moon, waiting,

knowing he would come;

he'd chased me through the galaxy

now thinking I was cornered...I was done.

His passion was for money

and for the bounty on my head,

for the crimes allegedly committed

they didn't want me alive - but only dead.

He landed not too far from me

in his black leather suit, and then,

he scanned the bleakness of the landscape

looking for an ambush or a trap, again.

We'd played this game before, you see,

on planets near and far...

I hid; he searched. I ran; he followed

me - star after star.

Finally he stared at me

in my fishnet stockings and corset tight;

a wild and dangerous animal

that he prepared to fight.

Just then I smiled and kicked the dust,

knocking pebbles down a crack,

as the hunter took a step towards me,

I liquified before he could attack.

I'm a ribbon of color

falling, gliding down

into an open cavern

I'm twirling, dancing all around.

A labyrinth of tunnels

in the middle of the moon,

I'm speeding past other colored stripes

like a super-highway in a cocoon.

I'm free; I'm dancing, spinning 'round

defying gravity and form;

laughing, flying with the others,

unaware of the impending storm.

I realize now he's followed me

and know that i must hide,

dodging into a nearby cave

when he's suddenly by my side.

His passion now has changed

as he looks at me with lust;

I match his gaze, as we touch and blend

as one...beneath the lunar dust.

Our uncontrollable outburst spent,

he leaves and goes away.

I'm free again among the stars;

he saves the chase for another day.
