Love, Too

A Reminder

Love is showing up

Until it isn't.

It’s listening and embracing

Until it’s not.

Letting go is love, too.

Love is also not saying

Not acting

Not picking up the phone

Not writing.

Love is sometimes

Crying alone

Hurting silently

Praying continually

For their good, even when it does not have to do with you.

That's love, too.

It’s hard to miss someone

But saying so

Might hurt them even more

If you do.

They might have a better chance

If you're not part of their story…

Maybe not forever ,

But definitely for now.

So, do you forget them?

No. Never.

You might try for a while.

Might think its easier to forget

To stop caring

That might work for some.

But you?

You'll remember them

And you have to choose

To love them again

The right way:

In prayer

In giving them over to God

Who loves them more than you do.

You allow yourself a moment

To be thankful

That they breathe somewhere

Dance somewhere

Sing somewhere

Even if you don't get to see it…

You'll remember the way

Their eyes looked

Their hair felt

Their smile brightened your life and know

Others will see the beauty in them, too.

And then you'll move on.

Let go…

Because they are safe

As long as you protect their heart.

Love is not selfish

Not conceited

It does not seek its own.

Love does not rejoice in wrongdoing

It rejoices in the truth.

It bears all things,

Believes all things,

Hopes all things,

Endures all things.

I love you and I let you go because…

That's love, too.
