Kansas Thrill Kill

Still bleeding

By St. JeanPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Kansas bleeds into Colorado

Which caused my confusion after borders were crossed and forgotten

Crawling across Colorado under cellulite clouds

Complaining to Kansas:

"Can't you put on a show? Set the clouds on fire."

I remember him

Two narrow fingers and a thumb

A barrel, trigger, jutted jaws

Fiery eyes

Standing knees

"Execution style?" My voice

His fingers on my temple

Slide to the back of my skull

"If I were, I'd do it here"

"So you wouldn't have to watch the light leave my eyes?"

"No, so the exit wound would be in the front"

"Why?"

"So I wouldn't have to see your face anymore"

A jolt of the wrist

A falling

"Some thrill killings

Have variously been described

As execution style murders"

—Wikipedia

And I felt like I never stood back up

Sighed so long and hard the exhaust of dissatisfaction

Blew me out of bed

Through the roof

And high above America

Tears of bitter disappointment

Fall down on Kansas

And Max
