IMPERFECT ME

As sunset blankets purple peaks,

Cool breezes rise up from beneath,

O’ where pray tell, has yesterday gone?

In daydreams of tomorrow's song?

Beloved ones, be still, pray, listen,

Not only gold and diamonds glisten,

Our wealth's from days on charcoals sands,

Traversing trails of southern lands...

I miss you 'tween the dusk and dawn,

Our days are bright, yet still, we mourn,

Fear abounds, in dead surroundings,

Hopes and dreams left slowly drowning...

He'll come for you in night’s sweet silence,

With wings to soar beyond the violence,

Through a maze of dreams, He’ll weave our path,

With the sword of truth, His trusted staff...

The world stood still when Christchurch rumbled,

'Neath Southern Alps her future crumbled,

As mountains shook and skies exhaled,

The hands of fate were then unveiled...

I’ll not be silent, while Father rests,

With dripping quill, I must confess...

Trust His promise, reject your fears,

His love for us will wipe our tears...

Love left a sign, between my lines,

My purpose found, beyond my rhyme,

My Father waits so patiently,

Destined to greet imperfect me…
