if

(i was you)

By Sara Published 11 months ago 1 min read

if i were you

i’d hold the little girl

that is me

and never let her go.

i would whisper

in her ear

when her thoughts

get too loud

and let her stay

in my arms

until her breath steadies.

if i were you

i’d tell me

of how a million dandelions

can make all my dreams

true

and i would kiss the worry

away

while the moon smiles.

if i were you

i would love me

all of me

even the parts

i hide in the dark

along with the skulls

of my past.

but i am not you.

and you do none of that.
