“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all” -- - The Emperor, Mulan (1998)

.

I saw you on silver screen

Beauty personified

Imagined in a dream

.

All too fleeting

Our time together

Red carpet I laid down at your feet

Tasted your heart

Alluring, sweet

.

In golden hour

Your warm complexion

Moonlit softness

Gentle inflection

.

You lowered your guard

Soul laid bare

Your secret garden

To be handled with care

Hopeless romantic

Sinking into your skin

Yearning to swallow

The pain held within

.

Brown eyes revealed

Depths of your soul

Lost and hungry

I devoured your heart whole

.

But you were all

I needed to find

So, look up to midnight sky

Keep your eyes peeled

For celestial sign

And come to me

When the stars align

.

Love be thy guide

From darkness

Emerges light

Chemistry’s kindling

Sparks reignite

Our breaths give life

Flames set alight

Two souls on fire

.

One day we’ll meet again

Seamless

Our bodies blend

As if we’d never left

Cinematic embrace

Malickesque

The time in between

Will become hazy

Fading into you - mazy

Emotional labyrinth

Of newfound love

Hearts intertwine

A gift from above

.

Bond born in innocence

Cupid’s influence

Your shrine where we’d connect

Blossomed a simple truth

Our best the divine proof

Words flowed across the page

Received by tender gaze

Building a platform

For true love’s stage

.

We knew just what to say

Minds synchronised in perfect play

Shared passions - our hearts map

Front seat, you sat upon my lap

Butterflies from our first touch

Electric surge, a magic rush

.

Since you departed

All that shone gold

Turned dull grey

Ambitions lost import

Poetry ceased to rhyme

I wonder

If you’re happy

If I cross your mind

That wasn’t our time

That just wasn’t our time

.

We’ll paint our dreams

With heart’s boldest colours

Kaleidoscopic masterpieces

From inspired lovers

Brushes dipped in

Vibrant visions hereafter

Arms wrapped around you

In dance and shared laughter

Our lives a blank canvas

We’ll create our own

Happily ever after

Weaving threads so tenderly

Immersive, sublime

Our life’s gallery

.

I’ll be the one

You can lean on

Before sunrise

Conceive our love’s dawn

True joy manifests

All you need to heal

To be shared an imperative

To know joy as palpably real

Falling head over feet

I’ll be the one who sets you free

.

Amour fou finds its destiny

As you wrap your legs around me

Everything that’s mine

Will be yours too

Turn myself inside out

You’ll only know truth

.

From ashes we’ll one day rise

Before our souls leave

This world behind

Realise what we both did find

Is that which we seek

From what we now hide

So, no more losing time

Eyes wide open

To see the light

.

We’re lost until we’re found

Our Phoenix ascends to new heights

Departing from same old ground

Its time flies through heavenly skies

Don’t let it pass us by

Slip away from what’s meant to be

Don’t let fear overcome

You and Me

.

This was beautiful! There was a softness throughout, even in the sorrow, that I really enjoyed. Well done!
