when i say miss you

i do not mean your hair or your eyes

or the song of your voice

and the way your fingers

dance

over my body.

when i say i miss you

i say it because

you remind me of a feeling

i do not know

but one that my soul remembers.

i say it because

when you bite my lip

it is like the world is bleeding

beautiful red crimson

in my mouth.

i say it because

when your hand holds mine

it is like the universe is flowing

into my fingertips

and i am alive inside.

when you breathe in me

it is as though

we are one and the same

when your heart races

against mine

the hole in my chest is full.

when i say i miss you

i mean

i miss the fire you ignite in me

that devours my solitude

and makes the moon shine.

i miss you.
