How Do You Get Inspired?

So onto inspiration, how do you find it?

Do you need to wait for that spark to be lit?

Or does it just find you and give you words that fit?

Tell me, do you find yourself struggling?

How long does it take, to get your brain working?

Do you find yourself getting inspired reading books?

Or is it people’s attitudes and daily looks?

It could be the tiniest things in life,

Something simple, like a smell, or complicated like a moment of strife.

Just imagine the things we get inspiration from,

A leak in the roof, a memory of prom.

An old picture that gets memories racing…

It can be good enough for us to work with good pacing.

Imagine you treat your life as a book,

And from your book, the inspiration you took.

It doesn’t have to be yours, it could be anyone’s,

A moment, a memory, to share with someone.

After all isn’t that what writing’s about?

Another way for us to not feel so alone, no doubt.

Do you often find yourself running for cover?

Overwhelmed with ideas, writing quickly til it’s over?

Or do you find yourself watching tumbleweeds go by?

Hear those crickets chirping, panicking about that well running dry?

Yes, inspiration is everywhere, here and there.

You only need to look and use it all with great care.

From books and movies, experiences and life,

You can pluck your ideas and sit down and just write.

Make sure you use that inspo while you have it there,

Before it disappears into thin air!
