A poem to the sister I found, and have never found again.

By Inae'e AidooPublished about a month ago 1 min read

I miss the feeling of home.

I miss the laughter of home.

I miss the love of home.

I miss her.

I miss the nights we stayed up too late.

And I miss the morning we got up too early.

I miss the jokes we’d tell each other,

Until we cried with giggles big and burly.

I miss every moment we shared in that big empty house.

Just two young teenagers, trying to figure stuff out.

I miss the SpongeBob shower curtains, and blankets, and pillows, and sheets.

I miss everything about her, and I pray she misses everything about me.

I haven’t found another sister like you

And you’re a butterfly so maybe you’ve found another sister like me

But you’re the only one that it’s ever felt like home with,

And I miss it, I miss feeling free.

I miss the hugs

And the comfort

And I miss the words of encouragement

I miss my sister.

And if I had known that I’d miss you this much

I would’ve never left your side.

I would’ve held on to your love.

I would’ve held on to our home.

I would’ve never let go, not until I died.

We would’ve carried each other,

You always made me better

Always helped me reach father

And without you I feel lost

Without you

I feel alone.

I just want to lay in your lap and listen to you say

“It’ll all be ok, because we have each other”

I want to go home.
