Haunting Melody

A Poem

I heard the hands clapping

Your voice singing to me

I’ve been sitting here

Just writing away

And you save the day

And your words keep haunting me

And I try to pray them away

But God says I should listen

So I intend to stay

I work around this

Who I thought I was

What I thought I had

And sometimes I’m happy

And sometimes I’m sad

I listen because

I wish you were here

And due to your lyrics

I think I’m in love, dear

I fear that I’m wrong

And you’ll just move along

But

Then again

Two broken hearts belong

Together

Forever

We could fix these

If we tried

Yearning for daylight while we dance in the night

I wish I could miss you

But I already do

And now your haunting melody

Makes me sick to my stomach

With admiration

And I don’t know exactly what to do

Except sit here

And worship

The likes of you
