God

A Poem

God is here

Church is too

I believe in both

You know it’s true

But I love the people

I don’t love the pain

I don’t love the sitting outside in the rain

I love the sermons

Stuck to the inside of my heart

And these days

I find myself

Torn apart at the seams

I do what I want

I do what I need

I’m here because I’ve been led here

Not because this is who I’m supposed to be

I’ve been weathering the storm

You’ll never know the places I’ve been

Wandering the world

My faith leaving me

Then growing thin

But I arrived

If you can call it that

Sometime when the devil took my soul

And I had to let him go

I guess you’ll never know
