It was a regular Tuesday afternoon at Ravenous Enterprises, my music recording studio. I was in the middle of arranging a melody for a new track when the door swung open, and in walked my dear friend, Mr. Sheraz. Aka “Chinx”.” We had known each other for over three decades and were the closest of friends. He wore a wide grin on his face, which was a rare sight since he was generally a composed and serious man.
"Hey, buddy," he greeted me warmly. "I've got something to show you."
I set aside my work and looked at him expectantly. He reached into his bag and pulled out a hefty stack of papers, neatly arranged and clean as a whistle. I couldn't help but wonder what they were. Mr. Sheraz had never shown an inclination towards writing before.
"You know I write poetry," he said, his eyes sparkling.
"No, I had no idea!" I exclaimed, genuinely surprised.
He shrugged modestly. "Well, it's been a secret hobby of mine for a while. I've been working on this collection for some time now, and I thought it was about time I shared it with you."
I eagerly took the pages from his hands and started flipping through them, taking in the words and emotions he had carefully woven into each poem. As I read, I was captivated by the depth and beauty of his verses. They painted vivid images of love, loss, dreams, and aspirations.
One particular poem, titled "Chahta Tha" or "I Wished," caught my eye. Its words seemed to carry a haunting melody within them, begging to be set to music. Inspired by the moment, I asked Mr. Sheraz if I could use his poem to create a song.
"Absolutely! I'd be honored if you can bring my words to life with your music."
Without hesitation, I picked up my guitar, strummed a few chords, and the song began to take shape. The melody flowed effortlessly, as if the music had always existed, waiting for Mr. Sheraz's words to give it life. The verses blended seamlessly with the tune, creating a harmony that felt almost magical..

Our friendship grew stronger as we continued to collaborate on various creative projects. We both realized that sometimes, the people closest to us can hold hidden talents and dreams, just waiting for the right moment to come to light. We became each other's biggest supporters, always encouraging one another to pursue our passions fearlessly.
In the years that followed, our studio flourished with numerous artistic endeavors, and "Chahta Tha" remained a significant milestone in our journey. Our friendship, now more than ever, was filled with respect, admiration, and a shared love for the power of art.
As we look back on that unforgettable day when Mr. Sheraz walked into my studio with a bundle of poems, I can't help but feel grateful for the magical moment that led to the creation of "Chahta Tha." It was a testament to the beauty of friendship, the discovery of hidden talents, and the power of art to bind souls together.
Lyrics
Chahta tha ke rok loon
Tum ko bhi samae’ ko bhi
Banhon mein samait loon
Tum ko main kabhi kabhi
Socha to tha woh din aayega
Pyar mera manzil paayega
Tujh se mili khushiyon se, mann bhar jaayega
Bus talash hai nishann ki
Teri aarzoo aur teri justajoo
Tujhe paa loon to main hoon surkharoo
Teri bewafai meri rusvai hai
Tu jo nahin hai magar hai char soo
Chahti thi ke rok loon
Tum ko bhi samae’ ko bhi
Banhon mein samait loon
Tum ko main kabhi kabhi
Socha na tha yeh din aayega
Pyar mera yoon kho jaayega
Aansoo bhari aankhon mein, kya reh jaayega
Bas talash hai nishaan ki
Teri aarzoo aur teri justajoo
Tujhe paa loon to main hoon surkharoo
