The Bic-4 Colored Pen,
Penultimate perfection,
The ultimate accessory
For a third grader.
Unchanging design—
Blue tube, white top
Four depressible buttons,
Black, Blue, Red, Green
Infinite possibilities.
You might write with them,
And that’s OK,
But that’s the beginning.
On the top,
A round, white ball
Serving no purpose
But perfect to chew on
If you’re nervous for a test.
Unscrew the bottom,
Squeeze ink chambers together,
Write in four colors at once
Pull the chambers out,
They make credible arrows,
Suitable to make math time
Go faster
Or the challenge—
Alternate the colors
In every letter
Of your whole name.
Today at the office
Our supply cabinet
Magically
Was full of four-colored pens
My inner eight year old
Feels like
Christmas came early
This year.
