Fairies and Monsters

Have you ever been in the forest

At sunset

When the forest fairies

Turn into forest monsters

As the golden rays sink.

Have you ever seen flower wreaths

Turn into horns of menace

As the sky turns black

And the fireflies sting.

Have you ever heard the wind’s song

Become a low growl

As the call of the forest echoes

And the wolverine packs pounce.

Have you stumbled on the jagged rocks

Faltered in between darkness and light

And let the blood pool.

At sunset

In the forest

Have you tried to hide

Or have you watched the world you know

Eyes wide open

As the night descended

And so did the stars.
