First of the Month Rations

A Desire to Write, But So Few Braincells to Do It

It's December, and the sun may be shining

But the wind is biting.

I felt the need to write,

yet none of my ideas are quite right.

I am tip-tapping away on my laptop

and hoping this little poem won't be a flop.

I met my NaNo goal of 15k,

which I consider a huge success,

as I did it while my mind was in a fray.

Why are we as writers frequently in mental duress?

So scatterbrained and disjointed

and yet so linguistically anointed?

Was that pretentious? Perhaps a little contentious?

Well, I just needed to get some words off my chest,

so thanks for reading - despite it not being my best!
