First Kiss

a poem

By Sara LittlePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

the night we kiss

prickles with heat

A sultry silence

filling the close distance

between our lips

with measured breaths

of shy reverence

i whisper her name

the sound dripping off my tongue

like caramel

smoky succulent slowness

a cry, a craving for more

so she generously obliges

Her face mere inches from my own

Reflects the moon like quicksilver

the universe pauses mid-stride

to watch for the moment our lips collide

in a rush of hands tangled in hair

knitting our souls

one with the other

i gasp at the event horizon

that signals the beginning of everything

as the world explodes in a meteor shower of stars
