Event horizon
I look around and gape
All I see is noise and mess
It was time to go I’m certain
Now my feet I walk away
On my bicycle I ride ahead
In my little boat I row forward
No more words can be anymore
Silence just makes sense for now
I'll go to my horizon line
Where small things I am sure
Become big again for I will see
The journey ahead is arduously long
I'll find my peace if it takes all night
At last I'll breath once more again
Close to the end I’m nearly there
Just a little more I’m sure this is it

A poetry challenge using the prompt 'close to the end' had me thinking on the horizons in life that we strive to reach yet never find. We always feel we're close to the end and then life just keeps on going on.
You can look upon your horizon, but try to reach it and it will get further away. Objects closer to the horizon will look small to us, but will get bigger if we get closer, yet the horizon will have gotten further away.
When I wrote the above poem, I also wrote this one below 👇 but the word count meant I couldn’t post it on vocal unless I added it to this one. Hopefully one day vocal will create a new space in the poetry world for shorter poems as I have so many!!

I crossed your horizon
To catch your attention
It’s all I could think of
Yet now I am smaller
The glare of your sunlight
I thought would be mine
But somehow instead
I’m only a blur.

Did you know that although you can never reach your own horizon, if you cross someone's else's horizon you become invisible to them? This concept speaks a lot to our daily struggle to be seen in the eyes of those we long for. 💔
