we sit in a circle

where the longest day

is either coming or going

and so therefore is the longest night

we live on a miracle rock

whipping through space

at the most unlikely speed

most people find

that the longest night looms

while the longest day flies

and they cannot see past the dark

to the miracles

but i am a creature of the night

i embrace her

she embraces me

we are old friends

collaborators

we remind the world

that the dark and the terrifying

are all part of the miracle too

darkness begets creation

creation begets fulfillment

yes, i am a creature of the night

and the longest one

holds no fears

instead we walk hand and hand

a team

embracing terror

embracing horror

us creatures of the night

we aren't afraid of her

no, that would be silly

we are however

extra good at seeing stars
