Don’t Treat Me Fool

Beneath the Facade: Embracing Authenticity

I may not ask many questions,

But it doesn’t mean I’m perplexed.

There’s much I choose not to reveal,

Yet it doesn’t imply I lack knowledge.

I opt for silence to avert disputes,

Feigning ignorance to shun conflicts.

I’m straightforward, eschewing schemes,

Sincerity guides me, no deceit in my means.

Kindness is my compass, harm I disdain,

A simple life, devoid of deceit or feign.

I yearn for genuine friendships to thrive,

Steering clear of schemes, I steadfastly strive.

However, some perceive my silence as fear,

My pretense as foolishness, they jeer.

Repeatedly bullied, trouble on my way,

Yet, beneath my facade, wisdom holds sway.

No one’s truly ignorant, that’s for sure,

We all grasp the games and understand the score.

My IQ’s standard, I’m as sharp as the rest,

My forbearance roots in valuing the best.

Feelings are my anchor, I’m not averse,

To lose friends over riches, I’d never coerce.

Not seeking universal favor, just respect my plea,

No harm, just respect, that’s all I decree.

I lend a hand out of kindness, not debt,

I stand aside, for I cherish, not inept.

In my chosen circles, I yearn to thrive,

No hidden agendas, just sincerity to drive.

For those who think me a gullible pawn,

Take heed of my words, from dusk until dawn.

I yield because I care, not from lack of might,

I discern the real from the fake, day and night.

I comprehend who’s virtuous, who’s not,

But I choose not to expose, a truth unforgot.

I grant you mercy, withholding the blade,

Preserving your dignity, the facade unswayed.

So, cease treating me as a naive tool,

I’ll forgive you if you misuse me as a rule.

Hurt me once, and still, I’ll extend grace,

Let’s coexist in harmony, in this shared space.

If our camaraderie’s a challenge too great,

Let’s part ways before it’s too late.

Remove your masks, intentions be clear,

No need for pretense or insincere cheer.

In the guise of authenticity, don’t deceive,

Let’s build bonds that genuinely believe.

For I may be simple, but my heart is true,

I hope you can see the real me in you.
