dive

a poem

By Edwin RosengrenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

A gasp of breath

sinking

the surface closes

over your head

sink

sounds muffle

as you are engulfed

daylight begins to dim

sinking

relax , let it happen

if you struggle

you are already lost

sink

the pressure builds

wrapping you tight

your lungs fill

but with ache , not air

sinking

pulse in your ears

a soft blib of bubbles

are the only sounds

sink

getting slowly darker

ever darker

peaceful darkness

sinking

ever deeper

sink

finally

bottom

settle in

relax

ENOUGH , KICK

push upwards

claw and pull

rise

slowly , don't waste

thump , thump , heart

lungs beg

rising

ears rushing

bubbles escape your mouth

surge

rise

down too long

relax

brighter now

nearly there

rising

lungs

burst

surface

A gasp of breath

About the Creator

Edwin Rosengren

I have been creating stories most of my life , but have never had a venue that I was comfortable with , which also had a significant audience . As a result most of my stories became amusement for myself only .

Here , I plan to change that .
