In the recesses of my mind
In the corners of my room
Some who want my breath
Others to seal my doom
The ones that you can see
The ones that you cannot
Some that I created
Some that I just got
Dark and cold just staring
These demons that are mine
Scratching, clawing, screaming
I never will be fine
They tease me to get closer
Just like a friendly host
They take my energy from me
The thing I value most
I can’t escape these demons
They have been here far too long
Taking away the parts of me
That use to make me strong
They seem to have no shape
With the biggest steel eyes
A figment of my mind
Or an angel in disguise
Angel, demon who’s to know
What hides in the shadows from sight
They come to take my life from me
So now it’s fight or flight
Take me if you must
I’ll fight you yes I’ll try
I’ve already seen the darkness
I’m not afraid to die
But if you do not take me
A deal we must make
To live together peacefully
But please make no mistake
I’ll fight you tooth and nail
Someday I’ll send you back
To the hell that you once came from
My strength I will get back
So hear me loud and hear me clear
My force is strong to remain
I will lock you up and toss the key
Never to see you again
