Death Knows No Color
What difference does all of this nastiness make,
This bickering and fighting, it’s a mistake.
For to continue along this unprofitable road,
Is to continue to carry an unnecessary load.
There’s no difference in the flesh suits we wear,
It’s about understanding and if we truly care.
After it’s all said and done my friend,
Death will claim us all that is our end.
Yet, for eons, we’ve stood and spat hateful words,
At those around us who look different, it's absurd.
Whether fat or thin, blue, green, yellow, black or white,
What we’ve said from hating hearts doesn’t make it right.
It’s the culture in which we’ve lived that’s shaped us,
It’s made us see things differently, it’s made us cuss.
But the infinite truth that we will soon encounter,
Is that we’re all the same when the soul begins to flounder.
Having seen many friends of different colors fade away,
I know that deep within me I shall see them on that day.
So awaken from this dream that has long had us divided,
And love those of all races, that’s what I’ve decided.
