Dear Tiffy

Ode/Elegy to you on the loss of your Dad

By Novel AllenPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

Sweet Tiffany

There are so many words of comfort to offer you

having met the kind, loving, thoughtful

beautiful little glimpses of your inner soul

Yet can we ever find the perfect phrases

to convey to you the heartfelt agony of thoughts

of which we know we can never really understand

You have lost a Father, an integral part of you

amidst your pain we can but offer hugs and comfort

saying 'sorry for your loss' is cliche, I know

But we will say it anyway...'we are so sorry for your loss'.

You are ever so brave, offering comfort to us all with grace

while poised and lady-like you silently mourn

Finding comfort in your faith, you carry on

it has been a while, but is it ever too late

to offer a hug and a shoulder to lean on

With lots of love and caring

To you Sweet Tiffany

With all of our love

May the losses of the ones we love forever lead to more of loving ourselves. There is more love in the world than there are people to receive it, even when our pain screams otherwise. Be sweet to yourself, Tiffany, and don't hold back.

The weirdest thing about losing my father was not the loss of his presence (because we both enjoyed his long life--85!) but how the world somehow seemed so different knowing it was a world that didn't include him anymore.
