Dear Reflection,
Your face has changed
Darker here,
Bitter there-
A line crossed
In folly-
The depths are seen
But the surface tainted
Skin deep is the puzzle,
The magazine and camera
Obsession-
It is awe that waits
Beyond the door.
But your own has faded
Every year
With the absorbing events
And polluting thoughts
A question of worth
That ends before mind begins-
The reflection beyond mirror
Beyond vision
Satiates the wandering spirit
Holds the youthful heart-
The reflection peering
From water’s edge
With the energy of nature
Coursing through blood
An eager dreamer
That sees all the beauty
That has been built
By mind absorbing
Body taking
Life changing years
All the ages
Showing we have lived-
Flashing through
On memory reel
That created a beautiful soul-
That created you-
Beautiful human
Remove mirror thoughts-
Turn within
With reflected eye
And collect the vision
Of a soul finding light.
Sincerely your guiding mind
The spirit beside you,
The voice of youth
And knowledge of the crown
Your Mother Earth
Who has aged
Just as gracefully.

Looking beyond what our society charges us to hold dear to discover the beauty that is wisdom, that is life, & an appreciation of a life well lived.
