Dance of the Dinosaur

tripping the light jurassic

By BKPublished about a month ago Updated about a month ago 1 min read
Runner-up in Poemosaurus Rex Challenge

show me your spine

and I’ll show you mine

I’ll lead, you perform

turn my cold blood warm

assert our dominion

at the Cretaceous cotillion

bow with colossal rhythm

and a smile, jagged and winsome

you accept

a four-legged two-step

claws extend

we begin

and we dance like the asteroid is drawing near

shimmy as it enters the atmosphere

shake while the ground trembles

sing while the earth screams

waltz as all becomes smithereens

feel alive just one more time

a display both primal and divine

dancing in the falling dust

move our bones like they’re all that will be left of us

at last we collapse in exhausted satisfaction

a dance of the ages to prepare for extinction

primed for bury, we erode

to let the next era know we roamed
