The car hums and mumbles on a long road,

meeting very few others.

The short-lived surroundings are painted rich by rain

that is ongoing and passing and coming.

The windows are still stained with waterdrops. ..

it seems like since the beginning.

And whether it’s actually there or just memory,

the scent lingers.

-

The sky is covered, enclosed.

The car is filled with dim.

There are eyes mirrored.

Checking or making sure

if sleep has taken hold or

if you’re okay.

And when it is felt,

sometimes eyes meet.

-

The world outside is moving and shifting—

a fast-moving blur,

a trance that can feel better than sleep,

the feeling of peace;

the body is still, resting, allowing itself to be carried

to the point of weight-less-ness.

-

Dreams or memories

that are long or pieces of too many—

like rain drops

filling any voids.

-

There is a falling and drifting of sorts…

it’s that weightlessness.

The grey contains while the movement

holds our heads,

and the hums and mumbles of the car

keep us here while going there.
