A poem

I think I can keep cancelling appointments,

as if I can cancel the parts

of myself I don't like.

I can cross dates off the calendar,

pretend I'm "normal".

I don't have to face my realities,

if I don't open the doors

to their offices.

I can close the planner,

pretend it's not happening

and try again later

on a new day

in another year.
