Every now and then you haunt me.
The comfort of darkness shattered
by bright, blinding light.
Vision, once obscured, returns
revealing indelible ink-stained pores.
A once blank canvas, scored.
An identity I didn't choose
expressed in a language I didn't speak
until false consciousness collapses
And bare skin is reborn.
