They want you to be ordinary when they say to be different

Since birth they tell you to be you, they tell you to be different, anything but ordinary.

You spend the time growing up doing just that, going through life with a hint of spice.

But they don’t like that.

They’ll seek out and be told it is just a rebelling teen- she’ll grow out of it.

Cover-up for getting brainwashed.

You refuse to be ordinary but you can't be you; so, you’ll put up a mask when they are around.

You soon to get lost in the mask…. Did it work? The brainwashing? I'm ordinary now?

But I feel different- I feel off. Like I don't know who I am. I feel like everyone is watching me. Like I'm the weirdo- not ordinary.

They ask why I'm like this- I say you made me like this. This is what you wanted.

They say my actions have my own consequences and I'm responsible for myself.

I drift away, I try to find myself again but it's hard because she might not have even existed- I’m chasing a ghost.
