As A Love Goes Cold
Rekindling a dwindling fire.
In the fog of wood
Our love lies lost.
At root of tree it
Dies in grass and moss.
A fire it was, with
Zeal to burn and roar.
Feel it long to be
What had been once more.
When life was a rose
In a beam of sun.
Vein and bone full of
Heat; all may be done.
All was a view from
The top of a hill.
A ship with a gust
Of wind in its sail.
Now it's gone off to
Hide, wait and stay put.
All we have left is
It's ash and it's soot.
You may hear it sigh,
Pray or sing its hymn
To save what is left;
It's red hue goes dim.
"If only you'd do all
The work," we both say.
How to live and to
love, this isn't the way.
To go save it now,
We just have to try.
We must take us back
to upon that high.
The air and fuel it's
In need of to live
Both of us, my dear,
Must be able to give.
It won't come to us,
Won't fall in our lap.
Go seek it we must,
so break out the map.
Let's go eye to eye,
Put your hand in mine.
Our love that lies lost
You and I will find.
The feel of your lips,
The heal of our kiss
At dawn we will trek
Into wood and to mist.
