An Answered Prayer

Dialogue Poetry

By V DeviPublished 3 days ago 2 min read

“Hi. Hello. Can anyone hear me? Are you there?”

“Yes, I’m here because I am everywhere.”

“I want to come back, I hate it here.”

“Sure, release yourself from that vessel and come home my dear.”

“No, I’m not allowed to, remember?”

“You are, for you have free will, just like every member.”

“I know, but in my soul contract it says no.”

“Well then, there’s your answer, there you go.”

“That’s why I called out for you!”

“But I can’t, for my job is to help you see this through.”

“So now what will I do?”

“Finish the journey, as you always intended to.”

“No, because it’s become something I no longer want to complete.”

“With that desire, I cannot compete.”

“Then get me out of here, what are you doing?”

“Technically, I can. But are you sure, considering what is brewing?”

“Brewing for who?”

“Of course, for you.”

“Okay tell me. Reground me.”

“That takes away from you being free.”

“No, it just lets me know what will come to be.”

“That’s for you to experience and see.”

“That’d be nice, if only I could breathe.”

“Don’t get sidetracked by others’ greed.”

“It’s not about them! What about my needs?”

“Well tell me child, what need do we not feed?”

“All of them! You make survival feel like greed.”

“Luxurious living is not a survival need.”

“I don’t want luxury, just some of my own space to be.”

“Not even I am that free.”

“Then who truly is? Please, tell me.”

“None of us, for we come when you call, you see.”

“That fully sucks, there’s gotta be somewhere better.”

“It’s not forever, just a bit of stormy weather.”

“Down here, there’s been a storm every day.”

“Tell me honestly, is it really as bad as you say?”

“Okay, maybe not every day but it sure feels that way.”

“Then why stand in the middle of it?”

“I’m not trying to, I’m tryna split.”

“Well, as you know, you may do as you wish.”

“And you don’t find that a hard truth to dish?”

“No, because any other info would be rubbish.”

“Fine, then. Are you ready for my big finish?”

“Not if your choice is to be selfish.”

“How can it be selfish if I’m the only one there is?”

“Because it’s not just about you. This includes me and the whole crew.”

“Okay so if I can’t leave now, then when?”

“When you longer want to. When you’ve done all the work and only then.”

“Now that’s rubbish, my friend”

“It’s also the only way your journey can end.”
