Last night we heard five feet on the weather
And her and I prayed for
Winter pouring into car windows
And trailing into our warmly lit room by our boot tails
But it didn’t look promising
I listened to her sigh as
Black bled onto her artist’s desk
Inkwell blood onto white skin
A student stained
She gave the paper landscape a beating
Cursed herself for the stains on the wall
And ink dribbling onto her legs
I smile at her
She is so beautiful this way
