Addressing The Graduate Of Fine Arts
The Workshop Collection
For me certainty means
Factually speaking makes financial green
But when looking for the truth
While spinning a record-breaking dethroning King Babe Ruth
There are things expecting to happen
Patiently fingers tapping
Respecting
After checking
Granted access
Discovering a mess
Graduate walking across the stage
Ready to turn the chapter page
Leaving the academic classroom cage
Setting safe and secure
Needing to rush out the reality door
Into something that is thought to be there
Not having a worry or scare
Reflect
During the era where now the letters received state ‘reject’
What did I study?
Doing it for the money?
Or was it the maturing lesson
Information lecturing interaction addressing
Coming to terms
Finding concern
Today grab whatever one can
Before making the commitment stand
Not trapped in a commuter jam
Only to find out the ‘nine to five’ was a professional scam
How you know something
Is the key to getting life’s brass ring
And it is education
Protection
Spending the time
And maybe a few thousand dimes
Change is the dream
Heard vocally with a scream
More worthy than the silver dollar
Every day wearing a white collar
Taking notes
From the boss who makes decision based on political votes
Sitting there well dressed
Having a need to impress
There is a pink slip
Attached to a paper clip
Off to human resources
Finished with these courses
‘It is time to move on’
Hearing dialogue destruction like an atomic bomb
Sitting ever so calm
Listening to the termination wand
“Why me?
I have a degree!"
Was the scripted line to say
Taking severance pay
The wrong way
Walking out on the controlled corporate environment
Twenty-three months spent
Now waking to the fact
Truly sacked
Giving free dumb
To be a bum
Placing experience in the back pocket
After energy was removed from its socket
Remember what was supposed to be known
When transferring messages while answering the phone
During the eight-hour weekday show
Where business was slow
Despite this was the place to grow
And in time
Reasoning will find
Another mountain to climb
Smelling the fresh air
From those who care
And share
Same creative thoughts about the new affair
Challenging to endure
Coming home with the big score
Having understanding
Sick of demanding
Using conviction
And no restriction
Ready to take on the addiction
Classified as computer keyboarding fiction
