Ever since people have tamed wild animals - a dog and a cat, these pets have always lived near us. Dogs are distinguished by their loyalty and devotion, in cats such qualities are rare. But cats give a person something else - warmth, comfort, cosiness. During the day, pussies sleep on their rugs, pillows, and when the owners go to the bedroom, they often strive to settle down next to them on the bed. They always choose a place for themselves next to the body of the owner or hostess, and most often at the feet.

Briefly about cats

Scientists believe that the domestication of the wild cat took place about 10 thousand years ago in Cyprus. Despite such a long period of existence near people, these animals can perfectly survive far from human habitation. In the conditions of a wandering life, they repeatedly run wild and may not recognize the owner when they meet. Cats love warmth very much, so they always choose the warmest places for rest. The internal body temperature of adults is 38–39.5 ° C.

These are very cautious animals that are always ready to repel an attack even during sleep. Cats sleep for a long time - on average 13-14 hours a day. If you observe the pussy during sleep, you will notice that its ears, legs twitch, and the muscles of the eyes contract. It has been established that these animals have the ability to dream. We do not know what dreams they have, but we can assume why they choose a place in their legs for sleep.

Reasons for choosing a place in the owner's legs for a night's sleep

Cats spend a lot of time in their sleep. They sleep where they like and the least safe. In the cold season, for daytime rest, they are attached to doze in warm places, most often on a windowsill or near a radiator. At night, these representatives of the cat breed can go to bed next to their owners - at the head, on the arm, on the stomach, but in most cases, they choose a place at the feet.

Several versions are explaining this behaviour:

  • This is how the animal expresses its love and devotion, and most often to one of the family members.
  • This is how the animal expresses its love and devotion, and most often to one of the family members.
  • Looking for a source of heat, the cat seeks to lie down on the owner's body. Since not everyone allows cats to go to bed, they are modestly content with a place at their feet.
  • According to the third version, people are fueled by positive energy from space, and cats - by negative. In the human body, positive energy is concentrated in the upper part of the body, and negative energy is concentrated in the lower one.
  • Many cat owners are sure that their pets feel well "sore" points on the body and are excellent healers. Of course, they cannot cure a person, but they can definitely reduce pain. They treat cats energetically, taking away bad energy.
  • In medicine, there is even such a term - "feline therapy", which means treatment with cats. They are not only doctors, but also excellent diagnostics. They are attracted to problem areas of the human body, where inflammation is observed. Lovers of warmth, feeling even a slight temperature difference, fit where it hurts most. It has been noticed that when the owner has the flu with a fever, the “doctor” tends to lie at the head of the bed, and after recovery moves to the legs.
  • The most realistic version is safer in the legs. Clever and cunning animals understand perfectly well that if a person rolls over during sleep, then his weight can crush them. In the area of the legs, this danger is minimal. Some cats lie down by their side in the evening, and after the owner falls asleep, move to their feet.

Some owners do not allow cats to sleep in a bed, while others do it with pleasure. A warm, soft, snugly purring ball of wool emits a positive vibration, setting you up for a restful, pleasant sleep.
