Young above

Eliana

By Elijah KilankoPublished 11 months ago 3 min read

In a quaint village nestled between rolling hills and verdant meadows, there lived a young dreamer named Eliana. From a tender age, Eliana's eyes were always fixated on the sky. She would spend hours lying in the soft grass, gazing at the expanse above, her imagination soaring as high as the clouds.

The village was a close-knit community, where people's aspirations rarely ventured beyond the boundaries of their homes and fields. But Eliana was different. She yearned for something more, something beyond the sky that she admired so ardently.

Every evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting warm hues across the sky, Eliana would sit atop a hill, a notebook and pencil in hand. She would sketch celestial cities and cosmic landscapes, her drawings revealing the vivid tapestry of her dreams.

As she grew older, Eliana's yearnings only intensified. She devoured books on astronomy, physics, and the wonders of the universe. The villagers found her pursuits curious, often chuckling at the girl who was seemingly lost in the stars. Yet, Eliana remained undeterred, her determination unwavering.

One fateful night, as a meteor shower painted the sky with streaks of light, Eliana made a decision. She would build a contraption that would take her beyond the sky, into the very realm she had only glimpsed in her mind's eye. With an unyielding spirit, she gathered discarded metal parts, learned the intricacies of mechanics, and sought the guidance of old tinkerers from distant villages.

Seasons turned, and Eliana's project took shape. Her flying machine, a fusion of imagination and engineering, stood ready on the hill overlooking the village. The night she had dreamed of had arrived, a clear night with stars twinkling like diamonds.

With her heart pounding, Eliana climbed into the cockpit of her creation. The villagers, who had gathered in hushed anticipation, watched as she flipped switches and pulled levers. A low rumble filled the air as the machine whirred to life, and then, with a graceful ascent, it rose from the hillside and into the boundless night.

Eliana's heart raced as the village shrank beneath her, the fields and houses turning into mere specks. She breached the sky she had always admired from below, breaking through clouds that embraced her like cotton candy. The world expanded before her eyes, a breathtaking panorama of Earth's curvature and the deep expanse of space.

For hours, Eliana soared above, the very embodiment of her dreams. She danced with the constellations, traversed the shimmering Milky Way, and marveled at the planets she had only read about. She was a solitary starship captain, exploring the cosmos with the audacity of a soul unburdened by gravity.

As dawn approached, Eliana steered her contraption back toward her village. The rising sun painted the sky in shades of gold and orange, and Eliana gently descended, her heart brimming with the intoxicating blend of accomplishment and wonder.

The villagers, who had witnessed her incredible journey, now looked at Eliana with newfound admiration. Her flight had shown them that dreams could indeed transcend the sky, that aspirations could propel one beyond the known horizons. And in that shared realization, the village itself seemed to rise above its limitations, inspired to embrace the unexplored possibilities that lay beyond and above the familiar realm.

Eliana's story became a legend, a testament to the power of unwavering determination and boundless imagination. And as the years passed, children in the village would lie on the grass, their eyes fixed on the sky, dreaming of the worlds that awaited them just beyond the horizon.
