Pushing Past Fear

Stepping out of the mind and taking control

By Mindful Path with RisaPublished 10 days ago 3 min read

I sat many times with thoughts that I want to share, I've listened to so many parents talk about their journey and how much help I've provided to them as a first time parent. Help that I had no idea I was providing.

I've been in the childcare field for so long, speaking to parents was pretty normal however for some reason the idea of having to share advice or any kind of insight on a larger scale gave me anxiety. I'm the person who rarely uses social media and most times can be found at home with my children spending time together or enjoying my alone time, not much of a social butterfly.

So then what do I do with all the knowledge that I've gathered over the years that I believe can be helpful to so many? Today I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and deciding to get out of my mind and do what deep down I've been wanting to do for a long time.

Maybe just me writing about my fear and insecurities can help at least one person.

It all begins with the mind, do you know that most of the decisions you make purely out of fear and insecurity is controlled by the mind? Well it is, think about it, I've sat so many times and wrote my thoughts down with the intention of sharing it and for years I haven't had the courage to do so because my thoughts made me believe that I'm not good enough, that no one will care what I write about or think, or even that what I have to say just isn't important and worth the time. Truthfully, as I'm writing this post right now I am having those doubtful thoughts. Will I end up posting it? Maybe I'll delete it at the end? We'll see.

Either way, if this post finds you, I want you to know that you are a wonderful and beautiful soul, if you're like me and your thoughts have been holding you back from doing the one thing that you've been wanting to do for some time, take the step and push past the mind, you will appreciate and love yourself more for doing so.

Come along with me as I continue to share some of the knowledge I've gained on my journey of this thing called life.

Here are a few things that I’ve been doing that’s been helpful in assisting me push past the fear.

1. Embrace Imperfection: Understand that perfection is an illusion of the mind. This step is often the hardest, but it's important to start somewhere. Every attempt, whether successful or not, is a learning experience. For me to try balancing the mind, I began meditating at least 10 minutes every morning and again before bed.

2. Celebrate Small Wins: Break down your goals into smaller, manageable tasks and celebrate each achievement. I began a vision board only displaying smaller goals. Recognizing each progress helps me stay motivated and reminds me that every step forward counts.

3. Connect with Like-minded People: Surround yourself with people that support and uplift you. Engaging with others who share your passions can provide encouragement, and that feeling of courage to keep going.

4. Visualize Success: Spend time visualizing your goals and the positive outcomes of putting yourself out there. This can build confidence and keep your motivation high, even when faced with challenges. This is where the vision board I created comes in. Being able to visualize those small goals and progress has been key to me pushing past some of those nagging fears I have.

5. Remember Your 'Why': Keep your core motivation in mind. Whether it's personal fulfillment, helping others, or achieving a long-held dream, staying connected to your purpose can drive you to push past fear and take action. For me, one of my reason is for my children, I have a teenage daughter and it’s important that I live by example.
