Is the problem leadership

How much of it can be blamed on it.

With all the challenges that we face in our society today. From the increasing disparities in wealth right up to the necessities which are still very much lacking, I wonder if the problem is leadership or at least how much of it can be blamed on it. Generally in society, there is an expectation for the government to be the solution provider to every single concern which might be happening in a country. You also have businesses which come up to solve most or at least some of these issues but isn't this approach flawed?

Whenever there is a problem in society the expectation is either for the government to step in or for a business to pop up to deal with that problem in exchange for an incentive, this effectively makes it in such a way that a problem has to either reach a critical point or have a huge financial incentive for it to be dealt with. Concretely speaking, It's when it starts costing lives or when a business model becomes viable for it that people start taking it seriously. That's just another thought anyway, the main point of this article is understanding whether leadership is the bottleneck for the execution of projects.

A single point of failure

I am not really comfortable using the example of government but it's necessary for me to make my point, the government always gets blamed for the lack of execution of projects and for not dealing with problems that a community might be facing, precisely the president. Regardless of whether that's a fair assessment, I find it worrisome that the execution of projects or the solutions to critical issues relies so much on a single point of failure. Basically, if the government doesn't do anything or if the president doesn't act that implies that solutions are never going to be found to address the issues we might be facing.

Keep in mind here that we aren't talking about one concern or two, we are talking of millions of different kinds of problem spread out nationwide and which cut through diverse sectors of activity yet all rely on the leadership and approval of a set group of persons to act rapidly and efficiently on things they often don't even understand.

This isn't much of a deal when the government has enough resources to spare, they can easily just create different entities to deal with these problems specifically but when they don't have enough resources then they tend to ignore everything which isn't critical to the survival of the population.

A better way

Another way these problems are dealt with is through the business mindset, when you have a business opportunity with these problems and also people with a business mindset, then there is a possible solution which can be found. These people work hard to solve these problems and reap the reward through that, they build businesses specifically aimed at tackling these problems and the more profitable these business are the better the solutions they provide for them. You can think of many industries like these; food, health, transport etc these aren't always controlled by the government but rather by businesses who have a constant objective to grow and become more efficient.

You can see again how this is still flawed because there are conditions which need to be met in order for the problem to be addressed, first the problem must have a business opportunity and secondly a person with a business mindset must be present to take advantage of it. This might look obvious in urban cities and towns where problems and persons are much more concentrated but in other areas solving these problems isn't that obvious anymore which stifles their growth in the end.

Conclusion

What if there was a way for problems to be systematically dealt with and turned into profitable business opportunities which can easily scale ang grow efficiently no matter the context where they are found. Sometimes the problem isn't that there aren't business opportunities in such problems, it's just that they don't represent a profitable opportunity at that moment, so they are neglected. And like I said, it's only when the problem gets critical that they are taken seriously.
