Convoluted 'soft life' dream ? What’s that about ?

It’s about that dream…the one where you will be living the millionaire or billionaire lifestyle! The dream where you have finally arrived in life. Where you are now at that  'soft' place in your life where you are eating $1000 plates of food and swishing  expensive champagne on a fancy yacht on your tenth holiday of the year...That dream !

Why is this dream so convoluted, you ask… And what does convoluted even mean ?

The Collins Dictionary defines the word“convoluted” ‘as (esp of meaning, style etc ) difficult to comprehend; involved, wound together; coiled;…’

So what’s wrong with my so called “convoluted” dream ?There are many people out there that are living this very soft life now, that started as a “convoluted” dream. We "see" them everyday on social media, read about them in posh digital magazines, hear about them and from them on podcasts and even see one or so live the 'softest life' right in front of our very eyes ... These people are a testimony that it's possible to do this , so why is my 'soft life 'dream    convoluted ? I too have the right to at least dream about  this for myself ?

Dreaming is free, for sure and everyone can and must dream BIG !  But convoluted dreaming is what messes us up !!!

If in your dream you have broken down the vision into bite size goals , nailed down as many of the hazards and pitfalls possible to prevent your getting the desired soft life. If you have budgeted for the emotional, physical and spiritual resources required to push on to access the softness at the end of the rainbow ...then this article is not for you !

However, for the rest of us, who are most likely the norm rather than the exception, who are hungering for glitzy and glamorous soft living WITHOUT also imagining the complicated and intricate process of getting it, then our dreams are convoluted !  If you have not anticipated how to navigate the difficult to comprehend parts, the many twists and curves of how to achieve the vision, the labyrinthine plot twist of repeated failure that is perplexing confusing,  and often torturous ... Read on!

The Convoluted 'Soft Life' dream will mess you up...it will have you questioning your very existence. It will have you doubting your value. It will have you wondering if someone has sent you bad juju ! It’s been pure hustle for the past five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five, thirty or so odd years and counting…but you still seem to be running in the same spot !

So what’s one to do ?

One can try to manage one’s expectations. One can inject a dash of realism to one’s dreams. One can use attainable milestones to progress towards a desired level of softness!

Instead of measuring progress in years, for example “l’m 30 years old and haven’t…” or “l have been doing this for x years” consider measuring your progress on goals achieved. I want to be a published writer and sell books. That’s the ultimate dream. I am not putting a timeline on this happening because l know that will cause me some major stress. Instead, l am setting goals and not very SMART ones at that ! My journey to being a published author has begun with joining a platform like Vocal. Growing as a writer on this platform will also come with financial dividends that will bring me closer to the softer life, with every view, subscriber and tip l receive for my work.

I have set aside convoluted dreams of the soft life and instead am working my way to the life l desire through attainable goals that have incremental wins.
