Is embarrassment holding you back in life? Are you constantly ashamed of doing anything, always afraid of other people's opinions, so much so that you don't really get anything done? That feeling is the biggest prison you can live in.

I grew up being told to care about my reputation and my family's reputation. It was so deeply ingrained in my mind and in my siblings' minds that we always had to act a certain way, never shaming the family. Eventually, I got tired of it and realized I couldn't achieve anything with that mindset. So, I completely changed my life when I stopped feeling embarrassed about everything. In this article, I'll show you how you can do the same.

## Let Go of Shame and Embrace Authenticity

First things first, realize that shame and embarrassment are not your natural states. When we are born, we are not born with shame or embarrassment. Babies are authentically themselves. A child is as well, until their parents start to indoctrinate them with their own belief systems passed down from previous generations. These belief systems can be toxic and limit a child's authentic self. As the child grows, they become insecure, eventually turning into an insecure adult.

To change this, you need to recognize that you weren't born with shame or embarrassment. These were taught to you. Start asking yourself what you truly believe and stand for. If what you're doing doesn't harm anyone and makes you happy, then who is anyone to say you shouldn't be doing it?

## Forgive Yourself for Past Mistakes

Many people carry shame from their past mistakes. Whether it's something you did to yourself or to someone else, it's important to acknowledge that you've changed. Holding on to past mistakes only leads to self-sabotage. You can't keep looking back and expect a bright future. The past is gone; focus on what you can do now with what you have.

## Stop Replaying Past Traumas

When you constantly replay past mistakes and traumas, your brain believes you're still in the same state, leading to ongoing depression and sadness. It's crucial to let go of past emotions. Hyperfixating on them keeps you stuck. Instead, acknowledge the past and let it go. Own your mistakes and recognize that you have changed. When you own your past, no one can hold it over your head.

## Embrace Your Authentic Self

Shame is like living in a prison of other people's minds. You're their puppet, easily influenced by their opinions. People who try to put you down often see something in you that you can't see in yourself. Once you start to see that potential, you become incredibly powerful. Imagine being 80 years old and realizing you've lived your whole life for other people. Do you want to live like that? Time passes quickly, and you don't want to reach the end with regrets.

## Accept Your Imperfections

Understand that no one is perfect. Everyone has their quirks and odd behaviors. Trying to portray a perfect image to imperfect humans makes no sense. People who judge others often do the same things behind closed doors. Don't lower yourself for miserable people; leave them in their darkness. Remember, people switch sides quickly. Those who laugh at you now might claim they knew you once you succeed. Live for yourself, not for their approval.

## Trust Yourself

Stop trying to be liked by everyone. People's opinions are based on their perceptions, not facts. Not everyone will find you smart, pretty, or funny, and that's okay. Accept that not everyone will like you. When you become comfortable with being disliked, no one can take that power from you. Trust yourself and your decisions. You know what's best for you, not others. Make your own decisions and be confident in them, even if they lead to mistakes. It's all part of learning and growing.

## Embrace Your Desires

You deserve whatever blessings you have or want. You're not meant to struggle. If something requires constant struggle to maintain, it's not for you. Let go of what doesn't align with you. Understand that it's okay to want a better life or luxuries. Your desires are valid, and you deserve to pursue them.

## Overcome Fear and Embarrassment

Shame is a fearful emotion that keeps you stuck. People who have no embarrassment get the furthest in life. Those who aren't afraid to be themselves achieve great things. Don't let the fear of embarrassment stop you from creating and doing what you love. Living your whole life worrying about others' opinions is a wasted life.

## You Are Enough

Realize that you are good enough as you are. Use what you have now to create what you can. Don't wait for some imagined state of perfection. Start now, with what you have, and grow from there. Believe in yourself when no one else does. Show up for yourself because, in the end, you are the one who will always be there.

Never dim your light for people who enjoy being in the dark. Live authentically and unapologetically. You deserve to live a life free from the prison of other people's opinions. Embrace who you are, pursue your dreams, and create the life you want.

Remember, the key to breaking free from embarrassment and shame lies within you. Believe in yourself, forgive yourself, and trust in your journey. You are more powerful than you realize.
