First of all, it is important to understand that it's not necessary to meditate on a regular basis to maintain your mental and physical health. In fact, meditating on a regular basis is not something that will benefit your brain or your body in any way. If you are not mentally or physically in good condition you should consider reducing your meditation time, for example every 3 days instead of two.

When you meditate, you are using your brain, and thus your mind, to try and bring yourself back to a state of harmony. This can be achieved in several ways. One way is by finding a mantra, which is a word or a short phrase that you repeat in your mind (think of it as a "thought slip"). Think about it for a few seconds and then let it go. Studies show that if you regularly meditate on a daily basis with the same mantra you will be able to make us of stress and reduce its effect on your brain.

Another way to ensure that you're brain is always in peak performance condition is with open-monitoring meditation. The idea behind this form of meditation is that you don't really focus on anything. Instead, you allow your brain to basically "listen" to what's going on in your body, and use that information to heal and boost your mental and physical health. You might be familiar with this technique called binaural meditation. The principle is basically the same: binaural beats are created when two different frequencies are fed into each ear, with each ear on a separate frequency.

There have been many studies showing that regular meditation is very beneficial for improving your mental function and reducing your stress levels. There are two main ways to do this. One is to get in a mindful, relaxed state by doing something you enjoy like yoga or meditation or reading a book. The other way is through open-monitoring meditation where you actually let your brain listen to the sounds around you and pay close attention to your internal thought processes.

Open monitoring meditation allows you to be in a relaxed mental state without actually meditating, so you can still be aware of what is going on. In addition to reducing stress levels, regularly meditating helps you live a happier and fuller life. Many experts agree that people who meditate on a regular basis live longer than those who don't. The reasons why vary from person to person, but most people do notice a reduction in stress, improved self-esteem, improved immune function, and a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Whether you want to improve your mental or physical health, meditate regularly and reap the benefits. If you're not sure how to begin, start out with a guided meditation. It will put you in the proper mood and help you to achieve the results you desire. With consistent practice, you'll reap the physical health benefits and see a whole new side of yourself.
