Freely Convert VCF/vCard Contacts to CSV Format without Software on PC

Users can use the free method to convert VCF contacts to CSV file format.

Several email programs support the vCard (Virtual Contact File) format, which is widely used for digital business cards. In this post, I'll walk over how to quickly convert a VCF file to a CSV file (or vice versa) without the need for any outside services, and I'll also demonstrate how to import the contacts into Outlook.

You might not want to upload all of your email contacts to one of the many services that let you convert if privacy or security are concerns. For this reason, we will only be using Windows File Explorer.

The majority of hosting companies utilize Roundcube Webmail, an open-source web-based email client. First, we will export the email contacts from Roundcube Webmail, and then we will import the contacts into Microsoft 365's Outlook Web Access (OWA). OWS only allows contact imports from CSV files; thus, you must convert the VCF file to CSV.

Exporting Contacts for Emails

To export the Roundcube contacts:

  • Open the webmail interface and log in.
  • Select the Contacts icon by clicking.
  • Select Export All by clicking the Export icon (see image below).
  • By doing this, your whole contact list is downloaded to a file ending in.vcf.

Contacts imported with File Explorer

The next step is to use File Explorer to import the VCF file into Windows Contacts. To bring the file in:

  • Launch File Explorer, copy and paste the path below into the address bar, then hit Enter:
  • This lets the person who is logged in access their Contacts folder.
  • As seen in the screenshot below, click Import.
  • The Import to Windows Contacts dialog box will appear with many options. Click Import after choosing the vCard (VCF file) option in this dialog box.

Note: You should use the CSV (Comma Separated Values) option here if you're attempting to convert a CSV file to VCF format.

The VCF file you exported from webmail in the previous stage can now be found and selected. There will be several pop-ups for every contact. The contacts will keep getting added if you just keep pressing the OK button.

Contacts Exported to CSV

After adding your contacts to Windows Contacts, you can create a CSV or VCF file by using the Export option. We will export the contacts to CSV format because we imported the VCF file in the previous phase, allowing us to import the contacts into the Outlook Web App (OWA) immediately.

To export the contacts:

  • Click Export after selecting every contact (Ctrl + A) in the Windows Contacts folder that is open in File Explorer.
  • Click Export after choosing CSV (Comma-Separated Values).

Here, you should pick vCards, which is the folder containing VCF files, if you are converting to VCF. Keep in mind that you will receive one VCF file for each contact. In this instance, you can combine many VCF files into a single file by using the following command:

  • Next, click Export after choosing the CSV option.
  • To export the CSV file, click Browse now, provide its name and path, and then click Next.
  • Lastly, click Finish after selecting the fields you wish to export to a CSV file.
  • Upon completion, all of your contacts will be exported in the necessary file format, which in this case is CSV.

Contacts imported into Outlook Web Access

We will import the CSV file containing our contacts into Outlook Web Access (OWA) at this point. To import the contacts:

  • Utilizing your web browser, log into OWA.
  • On the left, click the People icon.
  • Click Manage now, then choose Import Contacts.
  • Select the CSV file you previously exported by clicking Browse in the Import Contacts popup window, then click Import.

Last Words,

In the last thoughts, users can use the free method to convert VCF contacts to CSV file format via manual method, but these methods are not safe to convert bulk VCF files to CSV file format. Some users can download the trustworthy tool, whose name is the TrustVare Contact Manager Tool. Users can download this application in any Windows OS edition without facing any limitations. The tool has multiple features and functions that make the conversion process simpler. Grab the free demo edition of this application to see more features and functions.
