Have you ever wondered if you should blog on your social media profile or create your own blog? Keep reading to find out.

We are going to be talking about social media and how to use it for business and how to use a blog for your business as well.

Below we talk about social media vs blogging because some people think having a social media profile is their blog.

Do you think this?

Hold that thought...

Lets dive and talk about Social Media first.

Using Social Media For Business

You know what social media is and you probably have a few accounts with different ones.

Like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, SnapChat, YouTube, etc...

The question is...

  • Which ones are you using for your business?
  • Are you getting results from those profiles?
  • How many do you use for your business?
  • Are you feeling overwhelmed having to manage all your social media profiles?

So you may be using 1 or you may be using 5. I would say yes, have an account with all of them. And you can share content on them from other profiles so those accounts build up in the background.

But if you're starting out and want to really grow your account and reach more people for your business then I suggest you focus on 1 or 2 social profiles.

I used to say 3 but it honestly is a lot to manage 3 accounts especially if your are building them up from a few hundred followers and don't have anyone to help you manage your accounts.

So now I say focusing on 1 or 2, this really lets you create awesome content for your audience and gives you time to engage with them as well.

This is one of the key things with social media, it's to engage especially if you want to grow your business.

Now you may or may not think having a social media profile like an Instagram account, YouTube channel or Facebook account qualifies as a blog.

But it really doesn't.

You don't own it.

You don't place the ads.

You don't have full customization of it.

This is why having a blog can only help your business.

But the key is to use social media and blogging together this is powerful for several reasons.

Having A Blog For Your Business

A blog is yours, its your house. You can rearrange things and add things to your liking. Unlike with a social media account.

Now I said above its powerful to use the two together.

This is because if you write a blog post. You can share this post on your social media accounts. This is content for social media profiles and it also is content your audience can learn something from and might be interested in reading.

Think about yourself, do you click on links and read blog posts you think can bring value to you or help solve a problem.

You probably are.

And this is the idea you want to have for your business.

Social Media VS Blogging

So we talked above about why a blog can change your business and help you out.

But what if you're still holding back a bit and thinking but I don't need a blog.

I blog on Facebook or Instagram or YouTube.

Whatever platform you are blogging on.

I want to you to take a second think about this.

If you are on those social sites and sending people to your groups, pages or profiles.

Have you thought about if you get locked out?

Or your account gets deleted?

This has happened to my boyfriend, he got locked out of his VIP group and had to login to a different Facebook account.

I've also heard stories online about how someones YouTube channel got hacked and deleted and they had to start from scratch.

There are lots of stories out there.

If you think about it you don't own these social sites, you created a profile on a platform someone else created.

So why wouldn't you not want to create your own platform.

This way instead of people getting distracted by ads or others peoples posts they come visit your blog and click on all of your links and get distracted by your ads and posts.

Does this make sense?

Difference Between Your Blog And Facebook

Now if you're still a little confused on the whole thing I did make a video talking about the differences between a Facebook account and a Blog.

Keep in mind I'm not saying you should stop using social media.

I'm saying you should add blogging into the mix. This just gives your another place to promote your business and build your own assets online.

Conclusion

Lets just recap all that we covered. We went over social media and how it can help your business as well as how having a blog can benefit you.

We also addressed the differences between social media and blog and how they are very different platforms.

I also gave you some tips to use these platforms together to get more engagement and bring awareness to your business.
